The proflex Sealer comes with a set of 3 pre-applied sealing/priming/stripping solutions. I use the proflex sealer to put on the seals on the new roof and gutter system last for the summer. This seals all the roof/gutter system in place and makes the roof system water proof and drier.
The proflex sealer is really easy to use and it takes just a few minutes to set up. I just use the proflex sealer with a brush and some sealant, then apply the primer. It’s not as precise as the sealer by itself, but it works great for this job.
I like to think of it as a water softener and sealer at the same time. The proflex sealer is a water softener that seals the roof and gutter system together. It is a good choice for this job because I can still see it when I pour the sealer down, but it’s not visible from the outside.
The sealer is the same basic recipe as the sealer that came with the car. You soak the sealer in water until it becomes tacky. Next, you let it dry completely. Then you use the proflex sealer to spray it with sealant. The proflex sealer has its own little brush to apply it to the roof and gutter.
The good thing about sealer is that it leaves the roof and gutter surfaces unscathed. The bad thing about it is that the sealer has no way to seal the roof and gutter together.
This is a good point that I’ve heard before. I don’t know if it is a problem, but I have seen sealers that have been used on the underside of the roof and gutter and they have worked just fine. As far as I know, the sealer that comes with the car has no way of sealing the roof and gutter together.
If your roof and gutter are sealed together, that means they cant be sealed. The roof and gutter must be sealed separately.
Proflex uses UV-reflective adhesive that can be sealed with a special sealer. It’s recommended that you use a roof sealer, if you use a sealer that’s not a self-adhesive, or a sealer that has a UV-reflective surface that will seal with UV-reflective adhesive.
I can’t speak to the sealer, but I’ve seen a number of people say that they’ve tried it without it and that the sealer just seems to leave a very thin, “rough” line on the roof.
The sealer itself is a specialised UV-reflective adhesive, and most roof sealers are. The one I used is a self-adhesive, and the sealer did not leave any lines on the roof. I think the only reason the sealer left lines is because the adhesive had a tendency to run, and the lines are caused by the fact that the adhesive is thinner than water, so it tends to leave a very fine and thin mark.
