It’s official. My new book, The New Rules of Self-Awareness, is a bestseller. I’m just happy to say that I’ve been accepted into the bestseller list, but I’m still nervous about the book sales. I’m hoping the book will be a nice surprise for me after all these years.
I am happy to report that The New Rules of Self-Awareness is indeed now the #1 Bestseller on Amazon. It also sold more than 15,000 copies so that is a pretty good first impression. I didn’t really expect that to happen, but it was nice to see. My sales are really just the tip of the iceberg, and Im sure there are many other bestsellers that have sold more.
Not that any of this is a surprise to anyone who’s been following my Amazon sales. Im pleased with how this book has been selling for me on Amazon, but I am still a bit nervous about how many copies I will sell. I suspect that I will sell less than my previous bestsellers, but Im still nervous about that.
Its hard to say what its like to sell your bestsellers. I think you can actually sell more books in a year than you can in a month. My bestsellers generally sell within three months of release, so they are probably selling faster than they should. I am usually in the high 40’s on Amazon, so I think that should not bother me too much. However, I still will be cautious about that.
This is a good question. Of course selling your bestsellers doesn’t necessarily mean they will sell well when you sell them. But if you are selling your bestsellers in such a way that there are a lot of copies left to sell, they could still sell well, especially if they are copies of other books.
As with anything, there are many factors that go into the decision of what to sell and what to give away. As most of the books in this list are self-published, the publisher has a choice as to whether they want to make money from these books or whether they would rather give the money to charity. The charity part usually comes first. Of course, this varies from publisher to publisher. Some are more charitable than others. Some are more charitable than others.
This is one area that publishers love. They love to make their books more difficult to copy and distribute, so they keep these books in bookstores more often. It is not uncommon for these publishers to keep their books in bookstores longer than the average person (who doesn’t have a book in hand) would expect. The self-published books don’t usually come with the same level of marketing that would be expected of a hard copy.
With the advent of the ebook, it is becoming more and more common for self-published books. Most of these books are available in the most convenient format to the person who only wants to read them. Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Sony BVM have all started offering these books in their ebooks, giving self-published authors more visibility. What this means for the self-published author is that they can now be more of a “brand”.
For the author who does not want to make their book available via an ebook, they can still use print, and make a physical copy that can be shipped directly to the readers. These ebooks might cost as much as the book itself, but the benefit is that the reader is able to enjoy the book whenever they like, for a fraction of the cost.
jordy lemoine’s books have already been released to ebook formats, and a few of those have reached a considerable audience, even if only a few people actually got to read the books. This is an example of a new genre for authors to consider, in which they can be a “brand” for self-published books.
