I think most people are familiar with the saying “all you need is a dream, and you’ll have it.” Well, the dream that I have is to open up a bookshop and bring quality books to people who need them. This blog is about books, and what makes them worth buying. It’s also about how a bookshop is a business and how we can help improve quality of life in the city.
In a lot of people’s minds, the bookshop is a place where they can get cheap books – or in other words, you might as well just buy books at the supermarket or the local library as a hobby. Yet many people are unaware that there are actually many reasons to buy books outside the bookshop. The Internet is a good place to buy a lot of books, as well as online auction houses, but they’re not a bookshop.
Although bookshops are a business, theyre not a very good business. Their main profit comes from selling books to retailers. In other words, if you buy the book at a supermarket, or someone else buys it at the local bookshop, that’s profit. Bookshops sell books to other bookshops and retailers, and if you’re selling books, you’re not really making any money.

You need to look for bookshops that sell books that are well made, that are in good condition, and that have good customer service.
