It’s easy to forget that our first language is not our native tongue. Even those of us who have lived in the US for a while can forget that. It’s easy to forget the many accents and dialects of every country’s native tongue.
I have had many people ask me to deliver Spanish in my career. This was one of those situations. I have to say that I was very nervous (and I am a very nervous person) as I walked into a room full of people who all spoke in a very odd way. The person delivering, who was a very sweet person, was very nervous as well. They were also a little surprised when I said that I needed to speak in Spanish.
