This is my favorite toy for my daughter because it is both a toy that she can play with and also a way for her to develop a sense of control and ownership of the car. I let her hold it on the kitchen table and she can just sit there and stare at the steering wheel. She can also get all of her toys on the car, and I can sit there and watch her and see what she is doing.
This is a good example of what I am referring to when I say she can “own” the car. When I’m sitting there, I can look at her and see what she is doing and let her know that she is doing it. I can also tell her to stop doing it. When I am there, I can actually tell her when to stop doing it. She can tell me when to stop. She can tell me when to stop. We have a lot of fun that way.
It’s a great example of what I am saying. When you have a child who needs to be told what to do, you can basically tell your child all kinds of things.
You can see it in my own life. I am not saying that I have the ability to tell my children everything. However, I can let them know when to do it. I can tell them when to stop, when to go, when to stop. I can tell them what to do, etc. When Im at home I can tell my kids about how to get to school, how to get to work, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
We are constantly giving our children advice, and that advice is usually not in the form of a lot of concrete, specific instructions. Instead, it is more like “here’s what you should do.” It is far more likely then not that we are just making up things for them to do that we have no real understanding as to what they can do.
We are making up things for them to do because we do not know what they can do. A lot of times they think they can do something and we are just making up the instructions for them to do that thing. This is especially the case if we are not even sure what that thing is.
But what if it is something that they can do? Cars are basically magic. If you can only do one thing, then it is very likely that they can only do that thing, so we should be making up a lot of things to make them do those things. There is literally nothing wrong with making up things like this for them to do. The problem is that we are making up something so specific that they can only do that thing, which is not the right thing to do.
This is where all the “wtf is it” questions come in. I’m not going to get into all the wtf is it questions because that would be a whole other blog post. But there are a few things I’d like to point out. First off, cars are magic. Cars can do so many things as well as other magic things. Cars can do things that you can do with magic. That is a problem because it limits the magic we can do with them.
Cars can do any number of things. They can do a little trick with the car’s radio, they can do a little trick with their tire pressure, they can do a little trick with their headlights. They can do many, many other things. I have a collection of cars that I’ve never even seen before. If I looked up one of those cars today, I would be pretty happy with what I have, because I know I will soon be able to do a lot with it too.
