It’s not often that you’ll find a restaurant that’s so unique that it can be viral, but we’re talking about the Chinese restaurant in Vancouver, Canada. The restaurant has been in operation since 2005, but has only been recognized as a “must visit” in the Vancouver area.
Because the restaurant is a staple of the community, they have been visited by a pretty decent amount of tourists during their long history. They have even been featured in the movie “The Beach” as a place to get a cheap Chinese meal.
Now I’m not saying that all Chinese restaurants are good for you, but in general I do think that if you can find a place that has an atmosphere that you like, you should go to it no matter the cost. What makes it unique is that it is a place where guests can get a taste of the culture from across the globe. And I can’t just recommend the food for fun without giving them a little history lesson.
A few weeks ago, a group of us (including our friends Steve from the BBS Board) decided to take a trip to Vancouver Island to visit a couple chinese restaurants. The problem was that we were booked on a flight home, so Steve’s mom had booked us a table at the nearby Vancouver Chinese restaurant. Luckily we had a room to spare and we were able to have a nice dinner with a nice view of the water. The food was good, but the service was terrible.
The service was terrible because the restaurant was full of people eating and drinking and smoking. Not everyone was there to enjoy the view, or their meal, but enough were that we ended up at a table with people who were enjoying the view and the food. And they were drinking beer, not their standard liquor.
So what should I do when I have a table full of people who will not be drinking their liquor? I should have just left them there.
The other thing we should have done was just politely ask the server to please leave them be. I could have said, “That’s an awesome view you’ve got there, so can you please leave us be?” Instead, I would have just given them my card and said, “Hey, I’m the owner of that restaurant, so if you want to leave us be, that’s cool by me.
What really happened is that someone who is not drinking their liquor went to a Canadian Chinese Restaurant and ordered the drink to start. The server, who was not drinking her liquor, then walked back to their table and left the drinks on the table. The rest of the people, who were not drinking their liquor, were then told that they were “in luck” because their tables were now empty. The server was then sent back to bring the drinks because it was their table.
The good news is that you can’t drink your own liquor. The bad news is that you are now in a very public place with a very famous and influential person. You also get to be the center of attention.
Not that hard to figure out. It seems like the server was sent back because everyone was now left with only one drink remaining. The fact that she was sent back by the other patrons is what made her so famous. It’s a great way for a restaurant to go viral. Everyone who is served with their drinks, gets served by someone famous and influential. The fact that the server was sent back by the other patrons is a great way to go viral.
